Prom dress WIP

What you can do with old t-shirts can be very surprising.  I was up well into the night (the morning...) yesterday to make the dreaded prom dress for my fashion show...  Needless to say, my first attempt at something of this nature.  Here is what it looks like right now:

Quite a few things need to be done:  Finishing HOMEMADE crinoline (I have never seen so MUCH TULLE in my house !!!), attaching bodice to skirt (that is going to be fun...) and finishing touches.  I think it is pretty plain (read: too plain for me).  Does anybody have any ideas of embellishment, either on the bodice or the skirt ?  It is going to be a fashion show and I am usually pretty over the top.  So I am open for suggestions :)

If you want to see the nitty gritty of it all, please drop by my blog sewliltime.

Peace

Claudia

It looks gorgeous - how about lots of buttons instead of beading - to keep in with a recycling theme? Or tulle flowers made from yyour remnants, in an asymmetric pasttern going down the skirt? Good luck with the show

I love it! How about fabric flowers (those easy twisty ones) running from the waist diagonally to the opposite shoulder and make one strap to be covered with the flowers?

How about dyeing remnants of tulle red and creating a scattering of small bows on the skirt.
I saw the French film Romantics Anonymous. In the last scene the bride and groom run off and the bride is wearing a wedding dress with bows scattered on the skirt. It looks beautiful, romantic and quirky. The bows are placed in a similar way to diamentes.

I'm envisioning a spray of flowers down one side of the bust, with larger flowers clustered near the top with a few smaller ones farther down. And of course, these flowers must be made of fused plastic bags :D

A lacy yoke or shoulder strap out of vintage doilies dyed red?
