To refashion a too small thrift store dress can be a challenge.
I wasn't quite sure how I'd use this thrift store dress but I really wanted something red to add to my wardrobe so into my basket it went.
At first glance, you might think I just cut off the bottom.
But, it was WAY too small in the hip and thigh area to do that so I decided to just cut that part out and use the more roomy bottom and the existing hem.
With a quick seam and some quarter inch elastic, I had a new summer dress in less than ten minutes.

ReplyDeleteLooks great. I often buy too tight skirts that are on the long side and just take a few inches off on the waist so that it raise the wider area up to where it is neede more. I can get away with 2 or 3 sizes difference and still use a lovely skirt that way. Cherrie
