Vintage Dress to Shirt DIY

This vintage dress has been sitting in my refashion pile for a while and I finally decided to make some changes to it.  When I purchased it, I was instantly attracted to the vibrant colors and print.  But the dress's shape was all wrong..too large, too boxy, the length was odd, and I simply didn't like it as it.  I thought it would look much better as a modernized shirt.  So I quickly created a refashioned vintage dress to shirt.

I measured and cut 3 inches from both sides of the chest area and 2 inches from the hips.  This prevented the shirt from fitting too snug around the hips and butt area.  Can you say 'curvy girl issues'? I also cut 1 3/4 inches from the sleeves to make them slimmer.  To get the angle in the front and back, I folded the shirt in half and drew a semi-circle, cut, and hemmed.

Voila! It was a very easy refashion.  More details and pictures can be found on my blog, ChiChiLoves

So much better! If you hadn't shown the before, it would be hard to imagine how different it was.

Welcome on board. Your refashion looks like it was 'born' a shirt! I'm betting you will be able to wear that with a lot of different style skirts and trousers.

PS - Ain't no curvy/skinny/older girl issues here at RFC, Cupcake! The size you is is the size you is and so long as you're happy that's all that matters! ;-).
