The Skirt that Wasn't!

Lately I've been sewing things for my 5 year old daughter.  I don't know if it some sort of end-of-pregnancy-nesting thing or what, but she sure is loving the results!  So for this project, I started out with a very nostalgic skirt...
This was the very first skirt I bought from a thrift store years and years ago, and it was worn beyond use!  The slit was ripped, resewn, ripped again, etc. until it was beyond repair.  Same story for the hook and eye on the waistband.  So after taking a pattern from this skirt to make more like it in the future, this is what it looked like when I was done...
"Wait a minute!" you're screaming, "You said you were sewing for your 5 year old daughter!"  Yep, I am!  The skirt became the lining for this rain jacket I made for her...

Love your story on how you acquired the fabric! Lucky lady :) This is beyond adorable and I wish I had a little girl to dress, but then I think maybe its a good thing I don't ;) Lovely! Great reuse of the skirt as well: a pattern and lining out of a well worn/loved skirt!

That's really a brilliant idea to use fabric to line spring jacket. Great job!
