Back in the day

I'd wear things like this on the shop floor of Liberty -- but not while teaching classes in the Sewing School as that necessitated crawling under the tables to plug in the machines (learned that one the hard way). Sad to say, I've only worn it three times in the past decade and each time to a funeral so it was getting to be a case of 'Here comes IWOM in her funeral dress'. 

Sixteen inches off the bottom and unpicking at the side seams of that cut off bit gave me exactly the right amount to sew to either side once I cut this straight up the middle.

It zipped in the back, so once I turned my old dress into a slightly more useful cardigan I used a bit of the trim from the front part of the skirt to cover the no-longer-required zip.

The material is a fine weave knit that was not unravelling in the slightest,  nonetheless I finished the edges and have left it on Dorothea to see if it needs anything else.

I'm thinking 'no'. If I leave it rather plain I can dress it up with accessories and wear it with jeans as well as a skirt or dress.
