House Dress #5: Goal of 10 House Dresses.

Tip for those in the Dallas area:  So much fabric, machines, etc. http://www.dallasonlineauctioncompany.com/
ENDS--THURSDAY JULY 30TH @ 7PM -THE GETTIN' SPOT - PART 2 - YARN LOVERS & CRAZY QUILTERS AUCTION!

RanchHouse July Sewing Goal:
  • Mend, alter, refashion 10 House Dresses. This is #5.
My House Dresses are:
  • Not a fashion statement.
  • Not time intensive to finish/fit like going-out clothing is.
  • Worn as loungers, nightgowns, pool cover-up, garden dress.
  • Good use for large stash of after-retirement clothes and fabric stash.

After:  RanchHouscows and dogs love
my unfitted, non-fashion statement
Refashioned House-Dress.
At the RanchHouse: An hour in the garden on a 100 degree morning calls for a change of clothes.  I go through a lot of clothes. Refashioned House-Dresses provide non-fashion, easy wear clothes.
Goal: Make 10 House Dresses from well worn garments in the stash. This is #5.
Before: Well worn pre-retirement cotton dress and denim shirt from the refashion stash.
After: Unfitted House Dress to wear around the RanchHouse.
Steps:
*Denim shirt: Remove metal zipper and collar, change buttons from metal. Add bias trim cut from top of dress. Use front facings to enlarge sides of too small shirt.
*Dress: Cut at waist to make skirt. Serge. Leave hem.
What I Learned: I used my heavy duty rose clippers to remove uncomfortable metal buttons and left holes in the pockets. Lucky, the pocket flap covered the holes.

Before: Very worn Denim shirt, dress.

Love the denim jacket added to this dress. Makes me want to get some dresses done for me. Right now I am sewing skirts and tops for my grand daughters. Can't wait to see the next dress.
