Oh Sew Boho Chic!

Hello!

What a fast week - I can't believe the Refashion Runway will be over soon... this has been a hectic challenge, and I've loved every moment :)

So this week was Boho Chic... I started with a leather jacket, wide-leg lycra paisley pants, and a white cotton dress.

With the leather jacket, I removed the sleeves, collar, and button placket, before fitting to my torso, and using off-cuts to create fringing... oh yes, I also turned it inside out to take advantage of the ultra-soft suede fabric!

With the dress, I chopped it in half, fit it to my torso, created panelling, and added a neckline... I just wanted something simple to go under the waistcoat.

Then finally, with the trousers, I opened up the centre seam, and fit the new long 'tube' to my body, making sure to only sew up the front seam halfway (thereby creating a front slit);

So, because these photos are less-than-perfect (!) - here's a better series of 'After' shots, taken on the Thames riverbed with Roddie...

...and the Before and After!

Hope you're all enjoying it as much as I am! This was definitely my favourite of all the projects so far, in terms of wearability. If you want to read more about the processes behind each of these garments, head to my blog... and if you'd like to vote for your favourite, please do!

Thanks,
Gema x

A fringed leather jacket was the very first thing that came to my mind when I read the boho theme for this week. And your execution was marvelous!

Thank you so much Carissa!
I know these themes can be interpreted so very differently, and mean such different things to different people. As for the execution, I was scared stiff of cutting into the leather at first...but now I'm hungry to do it again, felt like butter to cut..!

(And now I'm starting to sound mad)
