Fall Flowers Dress

What better way to celebrate the long-awaited arrival of autumn in Texas than to whip up a cute floral dress to wear with tights and boots? So I pulled out this Laura Ashley number from a recent clothes swap. It fit alright and was nice medium-weight jersey fabric perfect for cooler weather, but the skirt was a bit too long and the collar a lot too tight. Seriously, I could barely get my gargantuan cranium through that thing!

Clothes Swap Haul

First, I did a little trim-and-hem the skirt. Then I cut a new neckline and used the original hem of the skirt as a new neckband. Easy peasy!

Love the new life the dress will have while still retaining the charm of the original. I have a blog for thrifting and refashioning as well and would love if you would check it out at www.vintagethrifter51.com Cheers, Michele
