The Crazy 80's Dress

Hello Refashion Co-op. I had this crazy, shoulder-padded, acrylic dress waiting to be altered. The colors were not bad, but the style and design? Oh, my!

I thought the best thing to do would be to remove the top and keep the skirt. I cut the top off and left 1/2 inch to turn under.

I used a zigzag stitch so it would have some give and I stitched it under to the elastic waistband that was already there.

That is a strange dress! Was it handmade? It reminds me of a quilt block on the top. I'm glad you chopped it off!

haha Amy Jo. No, this was made and marketed commercially. Imagine all the people involved who thought this was a good looking design. haha

Wow that dress is awful! But much much better as a skirt!
