The Hawaiian Church Dress

Hello Refashion Co-op. I needed to do something with this floral dress. I liked how it fit through the bodice but the length is so awful on me.

I wanted to save the full bottom part of the skirt, so I removed the middle of the dress and put the bottom and top pieces together again.

I kept it a conservative length because I wanted to wear this to church. It is knee length now and I don't look quite as short as I did before. That's always a good thing.

Thanks for reading, for more details go to   I Can Work With That.

That is a much better length on you!
I hate sewing tops and bottoms back together again. I understand the process of marking both sides in half and in quarters and matching it up.... DO you have any tips? (Maybe I should just chant "You can do this" and go sew slowly.)

I just layer it out flat and pinned the sides together and then found the middle of the front and pinned and then the middle of the back and pinned that. The top was a bit smaller than the bottom so I stretched it a little as I sewed. It gathered the bottom up evenly when I was done. Hope that helps.

The dress looks lovely now. I like the way you altered it from the middle
