How I Spent A Few Days Making A Skirt I Hate From A Pair Of Jeans

Hello Refashion Co-op. I spent way to long making this skirt. It looked so awful on me. I cropped the picture so you can't see my huge upper body. It weird because I have no muscles to speak of.

This isn't a very original idea. I have seen skirts like this before. I just really wanted to try it. The jeans were too low in the waist for me anyway. I had to do something. I cut the inside seam of each leg and used the bottom of each leg to fill in the empty triangle in the middle.

This crotch seam really threw me for a loop. I didn't like how it curved to the side. I spent a couple days trying to make all the center seams straight.

Eventually, after much thinking, I got the seams to looks nice and straight. I had hope this skirt would be great. Or if not great, at least OK.

It just doesn't suit me. It is too narrow and fitted and it makes my upper body look way out of proportion. If I was tall and slim, this skirt would look so much better. I am passing this on to someone else QUICK!

Thanks for reading, for more details about the center seams and my abnormally large upper body, go to here.

Looks ok to me... very nice job even if you're not happy with it.

I like it and it is cute on you. Give it some time. Try it with other tips. Bet you will like it this fall with tights or leggings.

Chick ie, I think it looks great, and it looks great on YOU. The monochromatic color scheme works for you with a slimming effect, as monochromatic can do.

I think it looks good but of course I am not the one that needs to be happy with it. :-) I have made plenty of things that I haven't been so thrilled with myself.

Hi again, I have seen lately that when the bottom is tighter/ slimmer such as with leggings or this skirt, to wear a fuller top, such as a tunic. Please, please, please post a pic if you try it with something like that. Before you give up on it.

Thanks Ladies,
I thought maybe a different top would help. I cropped the picture, and didn't post all the photos my son took that made me look like a linebacker. I thought a loose top would create that look but maybe it's the opposite?

I will keep trying, thanks for the encouragement. If it looks better I will let you know.

I'm glad you tried this, even if it didn't turn out the way you were expecting, now you can check it off the refashion bucket list!

I think it looks cute on you, but I totally get that some projects just don't work out the way we want.
