Suede Jacket Is Now A Purse

Hello Refashion Co-op. I had a suede jacket, but I didn't want a suede jacket. I wanted a new bag, purse, pocketbook, handbag.... Whatever you want to call it, I wanted to make one.

I started by cutting out all the lining and padding at the shoulders. There was a lot of padding. The suede was soft and really easy to work with.

I cut off the shoulders and arms. I saved some scrap pieces that I thought I could use for other projects. The body of the jacket will make up my bag.

The top of this picture shows the seam I made at the top of the bag. I folded the raw edge in and stitched it down. I also made holes and used leather cord for the straps.

Here is the front and back of the bag. I left a jacket pocket on the outside of one side of the bag. It has been very useful.
