The Strapless Problem (Gravity)

Hello Refashion Co-op. I found a strapless dress at a clothes swap. The green really appealed to me but the strapless part of the dress didn't. Strapless dresses never seem to stay up on me. They act like they will at first but after a while gravity takes control and I am tugging them up over and over.

This dress had a great classic shape from the front but it also had a cut out in the back and I knew I wouldn't feel comfortable showing that much skin.

The bodice was made of knit material so I just cut it off. I cut as close to the green skirt as I could. There was a built in elastic waistband already.

I turned the narrow waistband under and stitched over it to hide the black edge. It was super easy.

I liked the black and green combination so I wore a black sweater with it but I could pair it with anything now. And nothing is falling down.

Thanks for reading, and happy sewing to you.

You are right the colours go well together and you can dress it up or down now.

Just something PERhaps to consider in the future if you ever dare another attempt of 'dress gravity' problem instead of opting for a similar solution as with today's one: waist band stay? For some materials and patterns/cuts this might offer sort of 'load reduction' which indeed tends to 'aid gravity'.

Further: as long as 'one shoulders' or 'one sleeve only' is fashionable .....
The first could imho even be done with a different material if a 'tie together' can be accepted; means:
'shoulder addition' and some sort of shirt extension/'from underneath lurker' (;-) !) made of the same 'patch work/additional material ?

Loving greetings; huge thanks and further 'happy creativity session' to you,
Gerlinde
