Watercolor painted shoes

I've really been on a shoe-refreshing kick lately (or is it a kicks-refreshing kick?).

My second-most recent endeavor (very-most recent will be shared in a future post!) was to turn a pair of old blah ballet flats into something colorful that I'd actually enjoy wearing.

Before

The originals were once, I imagine, a lively pair of shiny champagne-colored shoes with tiny gold studs. But by the time I got them, they were already starting to look more than a little dingy. I felt ugly when I wore them. They needed to change!

During

My solution was to spruce them up with paint. I figured the paint would be a lot cheaper than dye, and less messy.

I mixed some white craft paint and some pink craft paint, diluted it with water, wet down the shoes so the paint would flow into the fabric uppers easily, and had them entirely pink in less than 10 minutes!

After

I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out! I might not have much use for such a bubble-gum shade of pink, but those rare times I do get to wear them, I'm sure they'll make me happy!

For slightly more details, and to see how the new pink shoes go with my new pink hair color, check out my blog!
