A Baggy Waistband

Hello Refashion Co-op. Do you ever have this gaping waistband problem? These shorts fit well in the hips and thighs but the waist is awful! The baggy waist ruins this great pair of denim shorts.

You can see how I felt about this waistband. And honestly, the length wasn't great either.

I took a little fabric out of each side of these shorts. I stitched a new seam several times so it would never come undone when I was wearing them. This is all it took to make the waist tighter. I used a zigzag stitch on the raw cut edge.

And the new seam blends into the existing side seam on the shorts. I shortened the length and made rolled cuffs too. These new shorts fit better and I can wear them all summer. At least, what's left of summer.

I never have a waist too big problem, only a waist too small problem.
