Experiments in shoe-dyeing

I guess the most creative method I ever came up with for re-coloring a shoe was when I used really watered-down acrylic paint. A half-year later, the paint job is still holding up fine, so I guess the method is standing up to the test of time.

To get them their new color, I just painted on the hair dye gel, (3 times, in different colors until I settled on a shade) let it sit for a few hours or overnight, and rinsed it off.

They came out quite pastel, but that's basically what I was expecting. I've only had them in their new purple state for a few weeks, but so far they're keeping their color.

What a cool idea! Hair dye, that is amazing. I have used acrylic paint before, but I have never thought of hair dye. Very clever. They look great!
