T-shirt to cardigan refashion

I bought this t-shirt at a local charity shop for £3. This photo looks like I'd just woken up from a really great night out, if only that were the case!
The plan was to make it into a lightweight cardigan for layering.  The neutral colour was a plus point as so many of my clothes are patterned and/or bright colours.

I was long so I cut off a strip at the bottom, this was to be used as a button band.

The fabric was a heavy weight for a t-shirt,  stitches just sank into it and disappeared.

The heavy weight was a disadvantage when it came to the button holes, my button hole foot thought I was asking too much.

There are more details and photos here and also a bonus feature.

I love the idea of using the bottom hem as a button placket! Filing away for future reference...

Your cardigan turned out great and the garment is much more wearable now!

Wow, that really looks great. It was a smart idea to cut off the lower edge. Genius!
