The Pajama Skirt

Hello Refashion Co-op. I found a great pair of colorful pajamas recently and I wanted to make them into a dressy outfit to wear in public.

These pajamas looked a lot like silk but they weren't. They were polyester. I would have kept them as pajamas if they were real silk. Polyester doesn't breath or feel as comfy as to sleep in as silk.

The pants were very loose and baggy. I planned to use them to make a skirt. The drawstring waistband would work in a skirt.

I cut open the inseams and spread out the material.

I made a basic skirt shape. I just had to remove the fabric that made up the crotch.

It was too long on me so I gave it a big cut and a new hem to about knee length.

I made the shirt a bit smaller but I didn't alter it, I liked it as it was.

I liked how the outfit turned out. I liked the shirt untucked the best but I could tuck it in too.

Thanks for reading along, for more pictures and details go to I Can Work With That.

You've turned a night home outfit into a night out outfit, that fabric was too fancy for sleep wear. I prefer the untucked look.

Yes due to the pattern-matching in the fabric, the untucked look is better.

Was this a thrifted set? The print is life-giving! I love that you saw this as a skirt. Inspirational and so cute.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I got these pj's at a clothes swap. When I saw the fabric I thought I could make it into something.
Happy sewing to y'all.
