The 80's Blazer

Hello Refashion Co-op. I found this great blazer at a clothes swap. It seemed very 80's to me because of the over-sized fit and the bright geometric designs.

I cut the body of the jacket of and used it to make a wrap skirt. I have never made one before. I love the idea because the fit would be adjustable. The jacket had a good weight and stiffness to make a great skirt.

I made 2 darts in the back for fit.

I used black bias tape to finish the waist and as a tie closure.

I pulled the skirt over on itself to close it more in the front and moved the original button over so it can help keep the skirt closed.

It was a fun project I should hae made a wrap skirt sooner.
Thanks for reading along, for more pictures and details go to I Can Work With That.

I love your new wrap skirt! They are my favorite skirts, and are great to wear around the holiday meals!

That loud pattern looks much better as a skirt than a huge blazer. I like it!

Thanks so much for the comments. I agree with both of you. The wrap lets you eat big holiday meals (Yippee!) and the pattern was much better as a skirt.(Less of the crazy patterns.)
Happy seing to you! :)
