Wall hanging to skirt refashion

I was given a wall hanging by my daughter to refashion.  It was a lightweight loose weave and had a circular pattern with elephants, perfect to make into a circle skirt.

The pattern made the cutting out of the circles so easy but the skirt ended up a little short.  I made as wide a waistband as possible from a more stable fabric.

Even with the smallest hem possible I was still unhappy with the length. After sitting on this problem for a while I came up with the idea of black ribbon. The hem of this skirt was over 4 metres long.
