how to resize a dress

I bought this lovely but too big dress in dots in winter , I really liked the fabric and this pattern , dots are always on time in fashion industry and in my opinion they look extremly feminine and elegant.
As first thing I made this dress shorter and resized it  next I changed neckline to be more flattered for me and added ruffle sleeves .
I really like the ''ready look'' I gained .

Whole process how to do it you can see on my channel sparrow refashion
and more tutorial photos on my blog .

Nice; have fun with it and enjoy!!!
Good idea of yours as well; as we're nearly used to and means "1/2 pink envy" of mine ;-) :-D
FULL envy since I myself have to wait for right the opposite: how to upsize/enlarge things ;-) ;-) :-D

One benefit of COVID; lock down and being elderly: nothing much (except an increased risk to die a tad earlier than normally predicted for my age in case of not too much bad luck) is going to happen even talking about weight. Thus so since being in 'This Age Range' means: used to being mainly at home anyway and hence doing and saying whatever we want as well since nobody is watching or listening anyway = like on net.

... I'm still dressed nicely .... just in case the man of - ahem - 'another life' might cross my way during those occasional 'governmentally permitted outings' yet not to alert coincidentally watching neighbours with a sudden change of dress code just for elementary shopping sprees.

... just flushing through my mind whilst looking again at your pics of "before and after", I think I would have fallen for this dress as well and my adjustment due to my age range might probably have been: adding 'shawls' of sheer fabric to the top (and bottom?) to cover up what - ahem - I no longer have (in comparison to you). Don't worry: no problem since it's only a nice "once upon a time" matter!
O.k., many ways lead to a pleasing result; it just depends on "Matching Possibilities" and hence (again!): enjoy and have fun in YOUR well done version and sending plenty of matching sun to do so!
