The Paper-Bag Skirt

Hello Refashion Co-op. I have been wanting something with a paper-bag style waistband for a while. I found an easy way to make one. I used this black skirt. It was a little too roomy in the waist. That was perfect for what I needed.

I cut the skirt at the bottom, right above the hem. That was going to be my belt.

I stitched the belt at the right height in the back. I stitched right next to the zipper but not on top of it. I thought attaching the belt in the back would help keep it in place.

The belt is an easy way to gather the waistband together and get that "paper bag" look I wanted. And it can be bigger or smaller depending how the Corona snacking is going that day.
