Back to Black

Hello Refashion Co-op. I don't remember where or when I got this dress but I didn't like the fit.

The hemline was a little shrunken. I think that is what is going on with it. It got smaller around the bottom. It didn't seem right.

I unpicked the stitches around that lace at the top. I cut out some of the body. I want to make a shirt but I also wanted to keep that lace at the bottom.

Now I had a shorter shirt and I kept all the pretty lace details. Thanks for reading along, for more pictures and details go to I Can Work With That.

2 retangles into maxi skirt 🌼

Hello, my lovely refashionistas! I’m so excited to share with you my latest sewing project. I made a maxi skirt without using a pattern from a thrifted bed sheet. Yes, you read that right. A bed sheet!

I love refashioning old and unwanted items into new and beautiful garments. It’s a great way to save money, reduce waste, and unleash your creativity. Plus, you get to wear something unique and original that no one else has.

This maxi skirt was very easy and fun to make. I only needed some basic sewing skills and some materials that I already had at home. I used a bed sheet that I found at a thrift store for only $2.

The tutorial was very clear and easy to follow. I explain how to measure yourself, cut the fabric, sew the seams, make the waistband, and hem the skirt. I also give some valuable tips and tricks on how to sew this maxi skirt with ease and confidence.

I’m very happy with how my maxi skirt turned out. It’s very comfortable and flattering. I can wear it in any season and style it in many different ways. It’s one of my favorite refashions ever.

I hope you like my maxi skirt as much as I do.

Raise The Waist

Hello Readers. Have you ever deleted an entire post by accident? Oops. Yes, I did that. Let me try again. I posted this same post last week and I just made it disappear. I liked it a lot and the waist band on the shorts was my favorite part.

Before and after.

The legs of the shorts were long enough that I could cut off the whole hemline. I cut it off both legs.

I connected those 2 pieces and that made a long strip of fabric.

I clipped it to my waistband.

I tied the ends of the strip of fabric in front of the shorts like a belt.

This ruffle wasn't really working for me. I liked the pattern of the shirt with the striped shorts but I wanted the shirt to be simplified.

Thanks for reading along, you can see more details about this and other projects on my blog.

Old t-shirts turned into a t-shirt dress!

I've been browsing through old posts on my blog last week and it's funny how I forgot some of refashions I've done over the past years. I have my personal refashion favorites of course and it was nice to see them again. There's one that I haven't posted here before and would like to share with you. It's such a nice and practical project with garments we usually has lots of: t-shirts.

You need 3 old t-shirts, or 2 if you like your dresses short. This refashion is the perfect solution for shirts with unflattering necklines or shapes. What I also like about the t-shirts dress is that there are lots of possible color combinations. You can make combinations that are easy for the eye, such as blue and/or grey tones, or you can go for an all black dress. And you can also go wild with color blocking, as I did.

Trying out different orders before cutting

I played a little with different orders to find out which order I liked the most. If you want to do this project yourself, it might seem unnecessary with black shirts but it can still be helpful! For instance, you can pick the shirt with your favorite neckline at the top.
In my case, the beautiful scalloped hem of the pink/green knitted top played a big part in my decision to place it at the bottom. That, and the fact that not afraid of color blocking:).

I looooove the scalloped hem!

A quick fitting showed that there was something missing...

Yes, the dress could do with a belt!

You are very welcome to check out vermaakster.blogspot.com for more details and a step by step explanation.
Until next time!

A Hawaiian Shirt Refashion

Hello Refashion Co-op. I was given a wonderful Hawaiian Shirt and I thought the floral was so fun. It was a man's shirt so it was a little boxy in shape. I decided to fix that.

Before and after.

I used the Very Easy, Very Vogue 8062 pattern. I cut out the tank top pattern.

I used the sleeves to cut out these crescent shapes. I want to make little tiny sleeves.

I pinned the little sleeve on the shirt to get a look at it. It looks like a little cap sleeve.

Here is a look under the sleeve.

I didn't have enough fabric to make a neck facing so I used bias tape at the neckline. This was such a fun fabric, I just needed a different fit. Thanks for reading along, for more pictures and details go to      I Can Work With That.
