This dreadful dress came from a clothes swap a few months back. It may not look great now, but trust me, with its lightweight cotton fabric, this will make the perfect tee for a Texas summer. And although we reveled in a rare snowfall only a week ago, it is currently 77F/25C outside, so the heatwaves are just around the corner, I fear.
I chopped off the skirt and sleeves and took in the sides of the shirt. Then I used the leftover sleeves fabric to make a binding for the bottom hem. Super simple but so much better!
As always, more details and pics can be found at

Looking at the first picture, you have to wonder what they decided on that sleeve length. Three-quarters sleeves can look good, but not at all on this one.
ReplyDeleteSo what are you going to do with the skirt part?
Yeah, the sleeves had elastic, so perhaps they were meant to be worn pushed up and blousy. I don't know, but I certainly didn't like it.
ReplyDeleteThe skirt has rejoined its comrades in my refashion pile, to what end is still unclear at this point. But don't be surprised if you see it again!
Vast improvement on the original garment! Well done!
ReplyDeleteToo me it seems like it was meant to be a shirt and not a dress. It looks great!
