New Years Eve Dress

I would like to start off by wishing everyone a Happy New Year!!! I hope you all had a fabulous time ringing in the new year with your loved ones!
For this very festive occasion I had to make the perfect dress!

Going along with my hopes of adding more winter clothing to my closet I decided to keep the sleeves on this one! Shocking, I know! I chose this 1980's special!
Don't you just love the jewels on this one?!? So appropriate for a New Years celebration.dscn1128
I removed the shoulder pad/hangy things combo from the dress. Buh-bye!

My idea was to create a diamond pattern cut-out on the dress. Just under the neck line as well as on the cuff of the sleeves. I printed out a diamond pattern in medium and small sizes and cut out most of the diamonds. Once I brought my pattern to my dress I realized the small diamond pattern would be too small.

I traced the diamond pattern on my dress by using tailors chalk.

And the same for the sleeves.

I cut out the diamonds with my small detail scissors. Brushed off the rest of the chalk with a damp cloth.

I just love the wrap style of this dress!
Here are a couple snapshots from our New Years Eve get together...
