Skort to Summer Shirt

Inherited this fabulously hideous skort. Would NEVER wear it as is. Ha! I didn't even try it on for the before picture ;)

I wondered if it might look better as a top?

I cut out the huge pockets, creating two arm holes in the side. I cut out the crotch to create a skirt-like shape. I hemmed the rough edges, and sewed up the holes where the crotch used to be. I strung a black cord through the convenient space in the waistband. This is what the top looks like now...

And with my mainstay black belt.
I think much much better! What do you all think? Is it wearable now? What should I pair it with?

    Thanks Debbe! I'm trying it with leggings today but I think you are right and jeans or shorts would work better..

    Wow I've never heard of 'Skort' before so you learn something every day! It looks much better and the waist belt sets it off well.
