I had some painful Braxton Hicks contractions early this morning. So what does a heavily pregnant woman do when she has painful contractions? Race to the sewing nook! My son needed some summer shorts so I quickly took out stuff from the refashioning pile and started cutting out shorts patterns for my son with the tried and true Simplicity 3765.
For some reason, while concentrating on sewing the shorts, my contractions became less painful and less frequent. And 2 hours later I have finished 4 pairs of Bermuda length shorts from reclaimed t-shirts, and boxer shorts from hubby. Funny how some Braxton Hicks contractions can be a real motivator for sewing!

Impressive use of braxton hicks, wonder what you'll get done when 'real' labour sets in. ;o)
I could see braxton hicks being a motivator. They would make me worried I wouldn't get everything done before baby gets here and I have no free time for sewing for 6 months, so I better get to it now. I'm currently making diapers for my baby due July 1st out of old t-shirts. It's fun experience. I just hope they work. I've heard that they work.
Nesting much? :)
Oh wow. Great strategy :) and good luck!
Pregnancy in general can make a person take on ridiculous challenges. I'm glad you took advantage of the hormone surge--I think the baby will arriving soon from the look of your incredible output.
Haha, thats really funny! Well done! Sounds like your baby is coming soon, exciting!
Thanks ladies for your comments! I'm just glad that I got my son's shorts all done for the summer. Hubby has never bought clothing for my son so if would have been a stressful task for both him and my son, had I not made the shorts in advance.
That is a strategy for pregnancy pain that I will definitely keep in mind. Will they let you take a little sewing kit with into the labour itself I wonder.
The outcome is cool too!

Hahahah Eddie! You are too funny! I would love to take some sewing/mending to the hospital too! Perhaps if I concentrate on the sewing, labour will be less painful! LOL
Too funny! I made my nightgown for the hospital while I was in labor waiting for DH to make it home! Lol.. he got home and was able to take a shower...and I got my nightie done! And 1 1/2 hours later our last daughter was born! Same day 3 1/2 hours after my SIL gave birth and another SIl came home from a mission for our Church! Busy day!
