I had time for a quick refashion project last night, so here's my first contribution to the 80 Dresses project!
I found this knit wrap dress awhile ago at the thrift store....which I really liked the style and fit of as is. So it is not the subject of this refashion. (It's related, though, I promise!) Given the low cut of the neckline and the fact that there was nothing between me and a series of wardrobe malfunctions if I got caught outside on a windy day, it needed some help to make it wearable.
So I took this tank top that had gotten too short to even wear comfortably as a layering piece...
...and this knit skirt that I picked up at the thrift store (didn't have anything that would work with it in my stash)
....and made this slipdress in about an hour.
I doubt I'll wear it on its own, honestly. I kind of failed at avoiding the two-tone black thing, despite my best efforts. And since I used the bottom of the skirt, there's a slit in it that's high enough for me to not feel safe wearing it in public. (Plus it would have looked more flattering if I'd joined the skirt at the waist instead of the hemline.)
But as a layering dress, I think it's perfect. I have another from-scratch project in mind to get to at some point that this will work great with, too!

So smart! Isn't it amazing that cotton slips are not more generally available? Who really wants to sweat in a poly one? Great job and makes the dress that much better!
