Strapless to strappy

I spent Friday night at a local Goodwill with one of my friends, and had a pretty good haul--several things to wear as is, and a couple of things that will be making an appearance here at some point, hopefully! This dress was one of them. I'm a sucker for tropical prints, and liked the way it looked overall. But it was just a little bit too small up top, and I'm not a fan of strapless things. They make me feel like a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen.

So I took the lining out of the bodice and used it to make some straps. Which also made it fit better. It was a little more of a process than it probably looks, so you can see how I did it here if you're interested.

This makes my second dress for the challenge-- I'm feeling pretty good about that, since I seem to be much more likely to reconstruct things into shirts! And without the challenge, I most likely would have made this into a skirt, which probably would have made it not quite as nice in the end now that I'm thinking about it. So thank you, Refashion Co-Op, for encouraging me to keep it simpler. ;-)
