Zero Waste Refashion

Following on from my last post on Refashion Co-op, I wanted to share with you a zero waste project I did combining 2 garments.

ORIGINAL GARMENTS - LADIES SMOCK TOP AND MENS TROUSERS

Again, with this regeneration I applied zero waste thinking at each stage.

Below are the 3 very different styles I came up with.

Regeneration Stage 1:

The pink smock top becomes the sleeve detail and underskirt of this dress
Stage 2:

The pink smock top becomes the lining in this kimono style jacket
Stage 3

The pink smock top is provides volume as an underskirt in this high waisted skirt.

This is SUPERB!!! Three such different and unique items of clothing, I can't believe you were able to make them from a pair of pants and a smock. It's like Refashioning, Extreme Edition. Clever and ingenious and stylish to boot! Lovely!!!

just a question...did you buy 3 new tops & 3 new trousers to make these???

Hi Huli, Items came direct from a retailer - leftovers/dead stock that I bought in bulk. The above is part of an industry project I did as part of my Masters, to explore the potential of leftover 'sale' garments as their are reports of retailers sending leftover garments they can't sell straight to landfill.

The third regeneration within this set has also been through the first and second regenerations - to show the durability of Fast Fashion garments and to demonstrate the possibility of a Zero-Waste Loop within the Fast Fashion industry.
