Black sparkly and bubbly

Ok one last one for today. I had a lot to catch up on! I totally bought this dress for the fabric. Initially I thought I would make a bellydance costume since it was so sparkly. But then I tried it on and decided I wanted to keep it for now.

Even though this dress said it was a size 10 (and I am a size 4) the top part fit perfect. I realized there was no lining in the dress, even in the bodice part and it was probably altered to fit a pear-shaped lady. :) The length was bad and it had a tapered sort of appearance. However, I thought if I cut the length off, it would make a cute cocktail dress.

Off came the length, but I kind of cut it too short for my comfort. In order to save it, I added a few inches of the fabric to the bottom but it looked weird.

I decided to turn it into a bubble dress by cutting a slit inside of the added length and insert a piece of ribbon. Then by merely pulling the ribbon the dress became a bubble dress! And it was adjustable to how bubbly I felt that day :) Oh and I could hide it with the safety pin under the skirt too. So you can not see it.

Also in case you did not notice. I added some black and clear beads to give the dress some character (and blingy shiny-ness!) that I had in my stash. The beads go up the neckline, around the collar and down the straps in the back (oops forgot to take that picture!). No altering in the waist was needed for this dress, a bonus. And I have the perfect place to wear it this weekend for a friend's wedding. I meant to wear it to another friend's wedding but that's when the back injury was so bad I could not make it. :( But at least I get to wear the dress finally.
Oh yeah and here is the link to my blog

XOXOXO,
LaLaLauren

A simple length change makes the world of difference, this is a great dress, the beads are great too
