A quick introductory post- and thanks for the invite! I've been designing clothes from nearly 100% recycled components for about five years. I transitioned from jewelry and handbags after finding a 1955 Bernina sewing machine at a rummage sale for $35. I had sewn before but primarily decorative things- drapes, pillow covers, etc. I enjoy sourcing all my textiles from thrift stores, flea markets and a few great vintage textile shows. My process: I launder everything first, then begin sorting textiles by color palette, then begin with a base piece on the dress form- draping, adding, taking away...until I like the way it looks.
There are days that I so love what I'm doing that the hours fly by like minutes. I'm really fortunate to be able to do what I love and work from home. I live with my husband, Carl, and 13 year old lab mix, Scout, in a 103 year old house in Redlands, CA. I sell my work at select shows in Southern California and also host a couple Open Studios in my home. I really love meeting the people who will wear my clothes. I have a blog where I share my current projects- some business, some personal. I also have a Facebook page where you can follow me and see what's up. "Like" me and let's stay in touch! Here are a few photos of recent work.

Thanks, friends! I appreciate your encouragement and support. I look forward to getting to know you here.
Love your designs...inspirational, I hope to create designs that speak to others as you have spoken to me. Thank you for sharing, May God Bless!
Welcome! And wow, those are really inspiring. You're very talented, and I look forward to seeing more of your work here!
Welcome Lorimarsh - this is Kathleane. I met you at the Costa Mesa Art Fair and invited you to contribute to our little blog. I'm so glad to see you sharing pics of your beautiful designs.
I was considering purchasing a serger (which I didn't really want to do but thought that I needed one to get the look I wanted on some projects I had in mind) until I saw your designs. I love how you are so creative with a simple zig-zag stitch and I'm now determined to keep-on keeping-on with my vintage Singer machine.
If you ever do a workshop or class please feel free to post here and on Facebook. I'm sure our readers would who live in your area would love the opportunity to work with you.
Hi Kathleane- It was a pleasure meeting you last weekend. Thanks for the invite and I look forward to participating on this blog. I'm with you...no serger required! The simple zigzag is my favorite stitch. :)
This stuff looks amazing! I especially love all the colours and textures in the first piece. So inspiring, too, that you are able to do what you love full-time and even have a studio...hopefully I will be able to get there too :)
