New Year, New Dye!

Greetings refashioners! I know it has been a long time since I posted some refashions but I got really tied up with the holidays and with my work. But I have been slowly working on some projects. 2 of them involved simply dyeing garments for a much needed, and easy, fix!

First I found this hideous pink shirt while I was home for Christmas visiting my family in South Florida.

The shirt was in great shape. I just hated that dusty rose pink color. It does nothing for my complexion. I used iDYE, a dye that dyes polyester, I used this same brand of dye on one of older refashions, Ruffle blouse. It was such a success, I thought I would try that out again. I opted to use iDYE violet since it was pink and I would get another shade of purple.

What I wound up was a spectacular color that I could not capture on my camera. So the picture doesn't do it justice.

What you didn't notice before was the lovely beading accents on the shirt. Now they stand out and look wonderful. For more information see my blog here

My second dyeing experiment was using an acid dye, which I have never used before but thought I would try it out. I don't have a before picture but it was a basic electric white caridgan. It just wasn't nice. And I have wanted a tan, beige sort of caridgan so I thought I would dye it. I used an acid dye in the color honey mustard. I got a nice end product. :)

No more stark white! And perfect for work. See here for more information.

So new year, new dyeing techniques, and 2 new pieces of clothing for work! I am slowly working on more refashions so I hope to continue to post more soon! :)

Happy New Years Refashioners! :)

I love the color of the purple shirt. I was thinking the same thing about the embellishments showing up so nicely after dyeing it. Never have tried dyeing anything. You've inspired me to try!
