Before I get to my refashion, I wanted to share my gratitude with the Refashion Co-op community. Everyone has been incredibly supportive and constructive with their comments and it just amazes me! I am sure we have experienced that person who was less than enthusiastic about your post/photo/comment and voiced it loudly and rudely rather than keeping it to themselves. There's none of that here and it really emboldens me so, again, I say thank you! On to my next refashion!
My boyfriend's grandmother gave me this dress over a year ago. It was what she used to wear out but she wanted me to have it since I enjoyed refashioning things so much.
I knew the bottom of the dress would make a perfect floral skirt so I removed it, added lining and elastic and here it is!
And here is how I've styled it in the past.
I'm rethinking the elastic because it is a little bulky but aside from that, I am as thrilled with how it turned out. Now I just need inspiration for the top of the dress. Please share any ideas you may have!

you're right! this community is awesomely supportive, AND this was perfect for a flirty flowery skirt :) I could see the top part becoming a pencil skirt, a lovely scarf, a pretty bag, or...a top! Cut down the back put a button at top and at the waist and leave the rest open...either chop off the sleeves entirely or make them shorter somehow, but with a cami underneath and a slightly different neckline it'd be cute!
Great job :)

What great ideas! I need to pick your mind more often! I never would have thought of making it a pencil skirt. The back is zippered so as soon as I get off work, I'm heading home to play with your idea of leaving it open in the middle. Thanks for your input!
So well said at the start Emme. We all have different tastes and not every refashion will appeal. I think that nasty reviews/comments are reflection of low self esteem in the poster of those comments. The need to belittle others in order to feel good about themselves is not an attractive trait.
Stay true to what you are creating and now that others respect and support your endeavours.
Cute refashion by the way.
The skirt is terrific!
I think the top would be good cut down to one of those tops with a slant of contrasting fabric on the bottom half. The high neck is perfect for that.
I'm sure what ever you do would be great.

I love the re-use of something meaningful to you to make something you want to wear. :) I also love seeing all of the support the community seems to get from this co-op. :) -Seeks, EOD
What a cute skirt!! I love the pairing of the contrasting floral belt. Mixed prints are on trend. We can keep up with out refashions!
