My plan was to cover the front of the shirt with the lace. I laid it out over the shirt, with the bottom edge lined up and some extra fabric hanging over the other edges, and pinned it down all over. I folded under the excess lace on one of the side seams, then sewed it down close to the edge of the existing shirt seam. I lifted up the lace and trimmed the excess close to my stitches before repeating the process on the other side. Working one edge at a time, I continued this process of folding under, stitching, and turning it inside out to trim the excess lace from underneath.
Here is how it turned out.
And here is the close-up. I love how the lace moves with the shirt. The whole thing took me about an hour and was very easy.
I wore it with dark jeans and black boots today for just the right amount of edge.
