In mid-May I tried to free-hand sew a caftan out of an old sheet. (Blah caftan's story is here.) Indeed, it was a shapeless garment, the kind of nightshirt worn by characters from PBS Great Britain. After perusing Refashion Co-op it occurred to me AHA!: Stripes can go both ways; plus, I'm not too old for knee-length.
