Beach Cover Up

I had this yellow tank top with a stain  that is too comfortable to toss out. I have been debating what to do with it for awhile. I decided to embroider around the stain, but I was not happy with the results. .

So, I ripped out the embroidery and decided to dye it. I used RITS kelly green but it turned out a sage color with the yellow fabric. Sadly, I used a permanent marker for the embroidered design. There is a bit of marbleing from the dye. I need to perfect my dyeing skills. I cut off the bottom of the top.

I took an old top that was showing its age and chopped off just bellow the arm/sleeve area.

I originally sewed the green and blue pieces together but it looked like a dropped waist dress and was not flattering at all. So, I added a white strip of fabric from a tshirt and stitched it to the center. I am happy with the results and will wear this as a beach cover up when I am on vacation.
