Fun with dye! Peacock feathers and button down shirt refashions

I decided to try some new RIT dye experiments.... You never know what you are going to get and I love that!

1. First was a plain white button down shirt. It was boring and I hated the shiny ribbon on the shirt. The story goes- I tried lemon yellow by RIT dye but it came out way too yellow for me to wear in any way shape or form. Then I had leftover blue dye from the project listed next that I threw the yellow shirt into. And what I got was crazy....

After the round of blue, I got a grey army green with blue ribbons!! Did not expect that since previous dyeing with yellow gave me yellow everything. Including the ribbon.

But I totally like the new color combo!! I could not have planned this whatsoever.

2. My second project with RIT dye was with my attempt to reverse dye with the Blue Elmer's Glue.

I figured out how to easily draw peacock feathers with the glue.
Let it dry and then cold water dye. I made a few mistakes, like not letting the shirt stay in the water long enough and then letting it dry overnight. It did not come out as dark as I had hoped. But I will still wear this shirt more than wearing it plain.

Hope you enjoyed this! :) I love playing with RIT dye!

I love how the dyed shirt turned out. And very nice peacock feathers. Inspiring!

I like the really subtle look you achieved -- even if it was inadvertent. You need to look, then look again to make sure you caught the design.
