I simply turned the shirt inside out and sewed a new straight stitch on the shoulder seam. Apparently, a new seam makes the sleeve a little smaller and the neckline a little higher. The whole process took less than 30 minutes.
I'm happy the fix was super easy since all I have is a needle and thread (still no sewing machine -- winter tires for the car a little more important). Now, I have a more appropriate shirt for work.

Wow! You are fast at hand sewing. Nice save!
I have one of the old navy vintage tees. Love it! Except for the low neckline. (I have bigger arms, so that part doesn't bug me.)
I'm not sure why I have trouble commenting.. Fat thumbs, I guess. I definitely meant to say, great job fixing what will likely become a staple in your wardrobe! Pinned it! :D
