Hello Refashion Co-op. My daughter started trying to refashion this boring brown dress quite a while ago. She ran out of steam and threw it in my refashion stash. It sat in a basket for quite a while until I had an idea for it.
This dress was pretty shapeless and it was SO boring in color. It needed to liven up. It was a real downer.
My daughter added some embroidery all along the bottom edge. I really liked it so I wanted to save it.
I cut the dress in half and saved the bottom half. The dog was in the way but I didn't want to wake him because he is a trouble maker.
I found this top at a thrift store. I loved the pretty lace and I thought the buttons looked great with the brown color of the dress. It had a nice elastic waist already built in.
I used a zigzag stitch to attach the two pieces together and it made a great dress. The simple bottom half looks great with the lace top. When I finished it I gave it back to my daughter. She wasn't sure if she liked the big sleeves so I may alter them later.
