Hello Refashion Co-op. I found this pretty pink J.Crew dress at a clothes swap. I didn't notice the bleach spot and pink ink marks someone used to try and fix it.
Here is the spot I am talking about. It looks pretty bad and it's right in front too.
I wasn't sure if I could dye over it.
I tried various scarves and belts to cover the spot. I really thought the red would be a good combination with the pink. I was wrong. I didn't like the multi-colored scarf either. I wasn't thrilled with the brown belt but,
I was out of options. I think this one is going back in the stash for later.

You can put an applique or a lace heart over the spot. Confessions of a Refashionista has some good examples on her website.
What about doing some artistic bleaching? I mean, if it's going into the "hide me forever box" anyway.... why not try?
Is it already the right length or could you shorten it at the waist a bit and have it still be a wearable length? If you could get that spot higher (closer to the waistline) you could use a narrower belt or scarf, or you could add a row or two of lace or embroidered ribbon (huh - I wonder where that idea came from :)) It's such a beautiful colour it's a shame not to salvage it somehow!
Is it horrible of me to like reading about the occasional snafu? because I have them a lot and it makes me feel more like continuing to try when I know other people have disappointments and keep going anyway.
IDEAS:
* Add a lace/mesh/shear overskirt skirt.
* Add a shear/loose/flowy camisole/jumper to wear over the dress. Thinking spaghetti straps.
* Loosen the waist if it is elastic. Remove the skirt. Cut the length in half to give extrea width, loosig the spots. Gather and reapply as a peblum type bottm. Use left over to add gathered length to sleeves.
