Carrie Bradshaw Month: Part 4 (Grand Finale!)

Here at Charity Shop Chic, April has been renamed ‘Carrie Bradshaw Month’ and I have been attempting a series of remakes in tribute to everyone’s favourite fictional fashionista. This is the final part of the series.

For the Grand Finale of Carrie Bradshaw Month, I wanted to do something a bit special. I picked out this pink Oscar De La Renta dress from season 6 as a beautiful inspiration picture and set off to trawl the charity shops of East London for something large and pink to be turned into it.

The shops didn't disappoint... I came home with this pink fitted sheet.

Here's a sneak preview of the result. There are a million pictures and full details of all the pattern drafting techniques that went into this over at my blog, Charity Shop Chic.

Drab Guess T-Shirt Brought To Life

Yes, I bought another olive green t-shirt. I seem to be drawn to this color, then I get it home and realize it’s kind of lifeless. Thank goodness I have lots of colorful t-shirts I can cut up to refashion into a garden party on the drab newcomers to my closet.

An almost exact replica of my before top.
Please don’t hate me – I forgot to take a before pic, but I did pay my penance by spending hours searching the Internet just to bring you all a before pic.
Awhile back I refashioned this top:

before

after - sorry for the blurry pic
Problem is I still don’t like the top. I wore it a couple of times just to justify the time I spent refashioning it and then it took a long vacation in the back of my closet. Take a look at the after picture below and you can guess what happened to the refashion project above.

Not much to figure out here but if you want to see some of the steps in between check out Refashioned Guess T-Shirt.

Hello's :P

Hello there, to be quiet honest of never really blogged before, so the issue of what one says alludes me lol.
Firstly, I want to say that it is my luv of clothes and creating that brings me here, you no idea how happy i am to possibly be contributing. To me who has had low self esteem for a good majority of life my clothes had become more than just something i wore, but my armor, accessories my weapons, makeup my war paint, and while my out looks gotten better, my view on the importance of a sense of self style remains the same. Dress for yourself, whatever represents you that day , weather it's that extra boost of confidence you need, or just something that makes you happy, and lets face it, it's not always found in your closet, or the racks at the store but you can come rather close.
My problem lies in the fact that one, I desperately need to stop buying new clothes, and two, I'm a procrastinator. I originally came upon clothing refashioning through thread-banger, and stalked the old site wardrobe refashion, but alas it came to an end. So I took to visiting this site from the gecko and finally got the nerve to put in a contributor request in the hopes that this will give me the boost i need to finally get my many projects under way, and stop with he needless shopping. plus if i ever were to get my skills down I'd like to eventually have my own store :)
i have literally two dressers, and four garbage bags full at this point of material and clothes that need to be refashioned, and so to end this ridiculously long intro, here's to hoping for my first project post soon - QueenOfNothing  "cuz i can'ts get nothing done" booo.

"Flowers @ My Feet" Shoes.

Fashion Disclaimer-This refashion will not appeal to everyone. This refashion is not meant to be high fashion.... or even fashion at all. If you find all things '70's distasteful, unappealing and the era that fashion forgot......leave this page now.

Ummm..... so Jodes of "OMG No! Fashion Disasters" if you just happen to stumble across this refashion through my pinterest page, ummm hmmm it might be better that you just skip it.

Okay great.....Fashion Disclaimer out of the way, I can now start with this refashion.

Before.
1970's Suede and leather burnt orange shoes. Purchased at a thrift store for $10.00. Okay, this is a bit more than I usually pay for thrift store shoes, but these came with the wooden/metal vintage shape keeper device. Now these are nice to start with but they are just missing a little bit of Mezzy magic.

After.
"Flowers @ My Feet" shoes now have the little bit of Mezzy magic that makes them quirky and fun to wear.

New Life For Old Dress

This is the dress I bought in a charity shop, I liked the fabric with embroidered butterflies. I knew it would become a skirt, because my body was very small.

I'm sorry I forgot about taking a picture before cutting the dress

You can see it in my blog  cosir coser sewing
