So I started with this

and transformed it into this.

Vest to Skirt #2

I have another sweater vest today that wants to be a skirt now. The neckline on this one was a bit higher than the green vest-skirt from the previous post though, so I decided to do a little more to keep some length.

I trimmed this one below the neckline, instead of below the armholes. Then I used some of the leftover fabric from the top to fill in the bottom half of the armholes. Lastly, I attached an elastic waistband. And now I've got another comfy knit skirt, but a little longer this time and with an interesting hip detail.

And it's perfect for cooler weather!

Simple Shirt Refashion

I received this shirt as a xmas present from coworkers at work. I love the softness but it was a bit too big. I just added some darts for a more fitted look

We don’t need no stinkin’ bubblewrap

We don’t pack bubble wrap when we find the need to go abroad with the intent of visiting assorted cellar doors. We take the first class sleep suits

and wrap bottles for home in them instead. And then when we get home we take inspiration from something like this

and we use the bottoms mashed with the top to make something similar in style, washable (i.e. not DCO!!!) and a bit shorter:

Okay. Not really ‘we’ but ‘me’ when it comes to the sewing part -- but I wouldn’t get my hands on these nice BA knit sleep suits if it WEREN’T for my hard-working, over-taxed husband.

These Boots Were Made for Refashioning....Round 2

Hello All!

It's me, Hailey Aryn, back again with another shoe refashion. Only, this time, I never intended to refashion these particular boots. I got this pair of knock off UGGs for $1 (I know! Breathe....) at my local Hudson's Salvage and new I'd wear them out this winter. My last faux pair (a boring beige) had been previously thrown out due to their soles falling off.

Sadly, to my horror, when I got home from the store, I noticed that a bottle of bleach I had just bought from another shopping trip had leaked and ruined one of the boots. :(

But...NO PROBLEM, it was time to get out the needle and thread and fancy these puppies up!

TA-DA!

So, I haven't finished the other boot yet. I'm sewing completely by hand with a whip stitch on the side connecting seams and trying not to go all the way through the boot in case I want to fold the tops down.

I have left the part where the faux fur meets the top band of the boot with an open seam for now. Maybe I should put some scalloped trip on the top?

 

What do y'all think? Should I add any more embellishments?

For a pair of cheap boots, they look and feel super warm and soft (and chic!). Cannot wait to try them out. I'll post finished pictures as soon as I do.
