Easiest refashion EVER.

So easy that I kind of feel like I'm cheating in posting it up here! I was hoping to have something to show sooner, but my last refashion attempt was a total fail, and I haven't figured out yet how/if I can salvage it. So, since I'm currently in the middle of a from-scratch dress, which is part of my quest to knock my fabric stash down to a manageable level, this is the five-minute refashion I did over the weekend.

(Warning: pictures of unmentionables ahead!)

I had this tank top, which I've frequently worn as a layering piece. The tank itself was still in good condition (and unstained, which is impressive for me and white!)

But it had a built-in bra, and despite my efforts to wash it carefully and never throw it in the dryer, I've had this for a couple of years now and the thing had gotten rather uncomfortable. (Yes, it folds like that when I wore it too.)

So I finally got fed up with it and just cut it out. And now I have just a basic, far more comfortable white tank top that I can still wear as a layering piece. With different undergarments, of course. I have a black one just like this that I may have to do the same thing with.

Who said refashioning had to be hard or intimidating?

(Also, I promise the next thing I post here will involve a bigger change to the garment!)

I always cut those built in bras out - hate them!! They just never fit me right and as a larger chested girl they never provide any sort of support.

I think even if a refashion is simple it is still worth a mention as you now have a very usable vest.

I like quick and easy refashioning. One of the main points of Refashioning is to be able to change something unwearable to something that you can get a lot of wear.

I did a similar thing. I bought some maternity camis when I was preggo that had- get this- built in shelf bras. Um, who can wear a shelf bra when you are pregnant? Certainly not me. So I cut them out and made them absolutely great. I actually still wear them (not preggo) as undershirts because they don't really scream maternity. They are just slightly rounder in the tummy than a regular cami.
