A simple trim down to an appropriate size, and I have a skirt I adore, particularly the waist straps which tie in a big bow around the back
But what am I to do with all that spare fabric?
I've made it into a top
More of that over on my blog
And last week I refashioned a dress from my wardrobe originally purchased from Salvos, cut in half and made into a skirt with a big thick elastic waistband.

Love them all, especially that last skirt- the colours are great! What a good find!
You are very skilled. It is indeed inspiring to watch.
I love the ethnic skirt and top! It's great that you got so much fabric for $1!!
As much as I love a good maxi-skirt, I have to agree that it looks much better shortened! That fabric is great. And I like how you used up the rest of the scrap fabric in that top!
lovely print, very cool job... again :-)
I love that top!
Wow Erica, I love everything that you got out of that wonderful skirt and let's face it there was plenty of material there to get on with.

Awesome. I was just thinking "hope she didn't throw out the extra fabric." You not only saved it, you already used it.
That top skirt has such beautiful fabric! I really like the top made from the extra.
Love that top. I will definitely be making something similar.
These are very cool refashions, but I have to ask one question... isn't every skirt an ethnic skirt?
(deleted the previous post due to a sleepy typo)
Yes, every skirt, and every fashion item, is indeed 'ethnic' you are right LT, I should not categorise.
