Flannel meets frills

Good early afternoon! Another fun salvage of an "unwearable" top :-D
So I found this button down flannel top at the thrift store...

Not bad, a little boxy, but otherwise in great shape...except, it was missing a little something...
Or, a big something, a large chunk out of the back! I knew this when I bought it, but I immediately had a vision and had to bring it home :)

So, I cut a section of muslin to fill in the hole, and using the same muslin and some lace, made lots of ruffles...and voila!

I left all of the ruffle edges raw so that it would have a kind of rustic feel to go with the flannel of it all ;) While I was at it, I also created 2 darts on the back to give the shirt a bit more shape, and took in the sides and arms to fit a little more closely to the body. Threw a little lace onto the top edge of the front pocket to tie it all in!
So, thoughts? I have some tweaking of the shape to do as it is a bit snug at the hips (I'll simply create two slits with rounded hems). And the arms still need to come in just a tad more. Overall I'm pretty pleased that my vision for this incomplete shirt actually turned out! Hope you enjoy and can see the possibilities in those damaged or mangled goods that get donated to the thrift stores! Peace

Very cute refashion. Love the ruffle. It is like a modern take on on the bustles women used to wear way back in the day.

Thank you all for your awesome comments!!! Feeling so encouraged and excited to post another refash...hopefully tomorrow :) @ Bat Ma'am- you are incredible! Thank you Thank you Thank you for being so very sweet! Your words made my day ;) @ Mezzy- I totally thought bustle! when I saw that hole in the back ;) I think I still need to work on it though as I think its a bit too straight up and down and want more of an angled out effect. So I'll update this with a new pic once I finish up with the tweaks I wanna make!
You all made my day!!!
