mini-sweater-skirt

 

this is a refashioning classic, transforming a sweater into a skirt and legwarmers, but with a little twist.

i started off with this sweater that i liked, but looked awful on me.

i cut off the arms and neck, added an elastic casing and a lettuce hem.

i sewed the previously-removed sweater bottom edge to the cut edges of the sleeves...

... and sewed them down so they'd stay down flat. and i had some lovely striped legwarmers.

and finally i sewed strips of scrap sweater on in a swirly pattern to cover up a stain and give it a little pizzazz. more details on my blog!
