Upcycled J.Crew Dress with French Lace

Hello, fellow refashioners! This is my first post as a co-op member: a simple refashion that puts a romantic twist on an otherwise casual salmon J.Crew dress. One of my favorite color combinations is navy and salmon, so when I found a remnant of gorgeous navy French lace at Britex Fabrics, I knew just where to put it.
Before

The process itself was pretty simple: I just used a pair of embroidery scissors to cut the floral shapes out of the lace, then hand-sewed them on to the dress using navy thread. This took about three hours total, and I used a dress form while sewing to ensure that I was honoring my --ahem-- curves in the process.

In progress: French lace is pinned on to dress using  a dress form
And the final product...

that really turns the dress in to something suitable for posh occasion.
The colour combo is not something I would have thought of, but on seeing it, I see that after all it is a variation on the complementary colour concept. It really works well.!

Thanks for the feedback! It's not necessarily a combo I would have thought of either, until I saw it popping up more frequently on other fashion blogs and in magazines (mostly as an interior design concept, actually).
