Canvas and suede combo olive green and a little basic...boring. So I decided to do something about it and sewed on this lace to one side of the first boot.
I like this, but I'm not sure if I like it enough...here are a couple of other thoughts I was having.
A leaf print polyester from one of my first refashions ever or another lace that is white and has a smaller pattern...I'm just not sure! I also have thoughts of metallic fabric paints or glitter instead of these first options. I just need some help deciding! Now that I'm thinking about it I'm leaning more towards a gold glitter to match the hardware on these boots, but I still want your thoughts on which direction to take :) I appreciate any ideas you might have and will post a follow-up once I've been able to decide! Thanks in advance fellow refashioners :)
Peace,
Andrea

I like the first one!
Great idea
Lace for sure not the poly which is too pollyannaish. Lace adds the twist and contrast. Poly just makes the boots look more country 1980s - but if you want that look then go for poly with cute print.
How are you sewing it on I am intrigued. What type of needle? Would you not use fabric glue?
Thanks for the opportunity to comment.

Hey Kazza, thanks for the input! I am hand sewing it on...since it is on the canvas part of the boot, it is not at all difficult! Just using a thimble to push it through when my fingers get a little sore ;) Headfeathermistress, it is growing on me, but we will see! Thanks for your input, I appreciate it :)
Your most welcome Andrea, please post the final to Bowerbirds. And thanks too for the sewing on boots into canvas tip, good use for my thimble that I never use.
I like the first option/large lace pattern, too. The scale seems just right, and being able to see the boot color through the background really makes it look integral to the boot, rather than added on.
The lace! Super Cute-
Definitely the first one! I think the larger pattern of the lace would stand out more from a distance (and who's going to get that close to your feet?).
I would use a monocrome instead. I think turqoise would look good.
Maybe with a narrow black edge/ribbon.
But out of the three you show, I like the first best.
Another vote for lace! I love the contrast in textures and the colour that comes though the lace
Aww, thanks all for your feedback! I am going with the first one...the large scale lace!!! Hopefully I can finish them up today and post the final pic with another project I've got in the works from that same lace...I promise not to wear them together though (would probably be too matchy matchy) ;) Peace!
I do like the 2nd one; but the 1st one will show better from a distance. Cute idea! Watch out... RTW will come in and steal your idea!
I like the lace but have you looked at microsuede in a contrast color and new grommets?
Great. Can't wait to see the final footware and what you wear the boots with. From Karen @ fb group Melton Bowerbirds xx
