One clearance zipper, two new bracelets

I started out with a 20-inch, gray, separating zipper I bought on clearance at Joann Fabrics, and I separated the two halves. I sewed a couple of snaps on the underside near the bottom of the zipper and the corresponding snaps on the top side of the other end of the zipper.

The length was just enough for me to wrap it around my wrist 3 times and snap it, like so.

For the other half of the zipper, I cut off the gray fabric close to the teeth and cut it into three pieces in slightly different lengths.

I took some jewelry-making wire and wrapped it tightly around one end of the three pieces, holding them close together. I left a piece of wire sticking out on the end, onto which I threaded a cone-shaped metal bead. I made a loop in the wire, added half of a magnetic clasp, then wrapped the excess wire around close to the end of the bead. Then, I did the same thing on the other end of the three zipper pieces.

I can wear it with the clasp on the outside of my wrist...

or with the teeth-side out. I love the punk-rock look of these two bracelets!

If you had a zip leftover from a refashion, this certainly would be one way to go.

I'd be worried about the teeth catching on clothes or skin -- do you find that's the case?

So far, it has not caught on my clothing, but I did need to take it off before picking up my 3yo son. I didn't want it to scratch his leg.

Industrial meets feminine. I like how the beading softens the whole look.
